I saw this Abarth inspired 1969 Fiat 500 at my uncle’s place last weekend, it’s his brother’s and it sounded amazing.
My dad’s 308 SW as a bonus.

Yeah, they are great. Simple to work on too, he told me the previous italian owner lowered the front effectively by just mounting a block between the front transverse leafspring and its cover.

Gotta love that kind of old school tuning lol, looks fantastic sitting that low. Anything else mechanical done to it?

He took the engine and gearbox apart after buying it, though they are stock as far as I know, they are likely close to how they were when new. The only performance thing I know of is a double exhaust.

LOVE these things! :D
The cool thing is, it doesn’t take much to make a big hp gain on these things...relatively, anyway...if the engine were stock, it’d only be putting out like 18hp, so even if that exhaust gave a 2hp boost, you would probably even feel it going down the road! :D

These are so great...
Especially if they’re real Abarths, still see ‘m around a lot near Torino!

Yes, this had the badges, but only had 18hp, unless the badges add something.
Have you seen this by the way:

Yes, true. And the sound is amazing as an added bonus. My dad said he couldn’t remember the 500 being this loud, he did get nostalgic about it since my grandfather had a Neckar-Fiat 600 with a 0.75 engine when my father was a kid.

Not sure if mine was a real one, it sounded great and the guy got it to speeds a normal one only could dream of!
